Chair and Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine, Jagiellonian University Medical College, Krakow

Abstract

This review article is dealing with the most important aspects of stress proteins expression in cardiovascular research focused mainly on myocardial ischaemia and reperfusion. The major role of heat shock protein 70kDa in endogenous route of myocardial protection is widely discussed in the context of possible contribution of other stress proteins. On the basis of numeral classical and recent published scientific data the problem of cellular response to stress and its possible clinical implication are presented.
